The Legions of Fire
Strength, Skill, Unity
Founded October 2003 in the MMOFPS Planetside by the "Founding Ten"
Q: What is The Legions of Fire?
A: The Legions of Fire is a multi-gaming community consisting of smart, adult, intelligent gamers united in the pursuit of friendship, brotherhood, and excellence in our chosen hobby, which is primarily PC gaming.
Q: What types of games do you play?
A: We play every type of game. There isn't a genre of gaming you can name that at least two LoF members haven't squared off in. From Paintball to Tabletop Minatures to massive 40 man raids.. we're a comprehensive gaming group.
Q: How many members do you have?
A: Well, that's a question that isn't as easy to answer as you'd think. Big, mass-recruit guilds will try to wow you by saying they have hundreds of members, but sometimes that number includes inititates, inactives, as well as other people who just never got off the roster or those who were never really on it. To be considered a full "member" of the LoF, you have to acquire three primary certifications.
1. You must have received your primary CORE tag, which means you have been confirmed unanimously by all other CORE members.
2. You must have received your formal FPS tags by distinguishing yourself with us in a tactical manner, usually through a FPS.
3. You have to be a part of the forums on the website, meaning you have registered and are considered a contributor of content.
So, to answer the question, we have 17 fully tagged CORE members. However, those members are also full officers, which could be called an Officer Council. If you want to include those who have completed at least one of three provisions listed above, then we have around 35 members. If you want to include associate (or probationary) members as well as inactives, then we have around 50 members.
Some might consider only fifty to be a small sum. But when you experience the individual attention that each member receives as a LoF member, then you will realize that that number is quite extraordinary. To those who think that number is paltry, I would invite them to manage that number at a live clan-meet event, which the LoF runs every 18 months!
Q: Why should I join you? There are thousands of online guilds out there!
A: Well, the LoF isn't for everyone. We expect a higher standard of individual conduct than most organizations. We expect a member to be intelligent, an above average gamer, as well as having basic social skills and common sense. On top of all of that, you have to be able to roll with the punches and have a sense of humor. While none of those things seems particularly difficult, it is difficult to find them all in one individual. We feel that having an organization that promotes and embraces these values is indeed a special thing. If you're a gamer of these traits and you're tired of guilds run by micromanagers, children, or greedy self-servers, then you should seriously consider the LoF.
Q: What can I expect when I first join?
A: Well it might be a bit daunting integrating with a group such as ours. We are all familiar with each other, we've met IRL, and we've gamed with each other for years. We've seen countless new recruits, the majority of which do not make it to full certification. However, this does not mean we're not happy to have you with us.
A new member is usually given a small 1-on-1 chat with a senior officer to field any questions they might have and then its just a simple matter of getting in a game we're playing and let your actions do the talking. There is no big initiation or rite-of-passage. We're just a group of guys and gals playing video games. If you've read this far into the FAQ, you'll be right at home.
Q: What games have you played on a large scale?
A:
Planetside (NC Emerald)
BF2 & BF2142
World of Warcraft (Azgalor Alliance)
EVE Online
and now Warhammer Online
Keep in mind these are games we officially represented in. Smaller excursions will not be listed here.
